Welcome to the ZIKMUND Pipe Crawler series, the
professional approach to sewer inspections.
ZIKMUND Pipe Crawler systems are durable and versatile solutions for inspecting sewer lines from 4" up to 80" in diameter. The professional package inspects mainline sewer lines and pipes, and the expert package upgrades the existing crawlers to inspect laterals that branch from the main line. A unique feature that sets ZIKMUND apart from other crawlers is a
special sensor that detects the unwanted inflow and infiltration of groundwater.

Looking to inspect laterals? Upgrade the ZIKMUND 315 Pipe Crawler to an expert package.
The ZIKMUND Pipe Crawlers operate with a portable control box housed in a plastic case containing all the viewing and control components. Two monitors are fused into the lid of the plastic case, one showing the camera image and the other for the PC. The control box contains
intuitive software that allows users to create reports, capture videos and images, make inclinometer charts, and more. The software works with a keyboard and an optical trackball that controls the PC cursor. The control unit operates on 110V-230V AC power and offers an external video output, HDMI output, and USB port.
One of the important parts of the system is the cable reel that connects the crawler to the control box. The cable reel of the ZIKMUND system offers a portable design with a flexible non-coaxial cable,
a new special cable design that basically eliminates cable failure. It is available in lengths of 200m—500m (656 ft-1640 ft). For reeling in and out, the cable utilizes a motorized system that automatically synchronizes with the crawler and either lets the cable out or pulls it in. An adjustable brake and a cable-laying device help to smooth out the inspection process. In case of emergency, the reel has a manual winding handle.
The ZIKMUND pipe crawlers offer full package features that are a great help during the inspection, provide valuable information, and smooth out the process. Both crawlers are steerable and can go through bends; however, the passing ability depends on the diameter of the pipe. Inside the tractor bodies are sensors for inclination measurement and tilt measurement that show the pipe's relative angle and the crawler's tilt position. The whole system is pressurizable and has a central system, which means that the camera head and the whole body are pressurized with one port, thus eliminating the need to pressurize the crawler parts separately.
The ZIKMUND 315 crawlers offers a couple of
additional features that allow it to inspect bigger pipe sizes and conduct special manipulations in the pipes. In order to inspect bigger pipelines, the 315 tractor has a motorized camera riser that lifts up the camera head to the middle of the pipe, which makes the light spread out more evenly in the pipe, thus allowing a better view. Additionally, a bigger illumination block can be added to the camera head to increase the light output. The 315 crawler can also be used to measure the ovality of the pipes with a sensor that is added between the camera head and the crawler connection. The result is a graph that plots the ovality over two axes. Another unique addition to the 315 crawler is a
sensor for detecting the groundwater inflow and infiltration in the pipes. This invention is unique to Zikmund Electronics and allows the operator to determine if the source of the water. The result is plotted on a graph that reveals the part of the pipe where the leakage occurs.
ZIKMUND 315 Pipe System can be
upgraded to inspect outgoing laterals that branch from the main sewer or pipeline. This setup helps to inspect laterals that either don't have a clean-out or the lateral is not accessible otherwise. The lateral system integrates the 315 crawler and the previous version of the TechWorm and allows to inspect laterals starting from 4 inches and up to 50m (164ft) in length. The TechWorm has a push cable of 100m (328ft) and is a separate unit by itself. If needed, the lateral system setup can be disassembled, the pipe inspection crawler can be used separately to inspect larger sewer lines, and the TechWorm can be used as a regular push camera for inspecting smaller pipelines.
There are two camera heads that are compatible with the tractors, and both of them are pan and tilt (a rotating function that allows one to look around in the pipe and see the sidewalls) and offer a Full HD image quality sensor. The camera heads can be upgraded with a 512 Hz sonde to locate the camera head with a locator once it is in the pipes.
There are a few differences between the camera heads: RTH 34 and RH 112. The RTH 34 camera head can work with both of the inspection crawler systems, but it works best for the ZIKMUND 125 crawler since it does not have an optical nor digital zoom but only a manual focus that allows the operator to focus on objects closer or further away from the crawler. This camera head works with all crawlers, push camera TechWorm and the lateral system. For advanced inspections, the camera head can be upgraded with a laser for pipe diameter and pipe ovality measurement.
The RTH 112 camera head can be used only with the ZIKMUND 315 crawler system and offers a
powerful digital zoom as well as a manual focus for zooming on the objects of interest and keeping the image clear with the focus function. If needed, the camera head can be equipped with a laser for pipe diameter and pipe ovality measurement as well as a laser for measuring the pipe defects.
The ZIKMUND Pipe Crawler System stands as a
durable solution that is built to deliver results. From professional inspection package to expert package these crawlers offer
multiple benefits and stand as a modular and versatile inspection solution.
