What is STORMER S?
STORMER S is a portable, battery-powered CCTV robot for 4" to 16" (DN100–400) sewer, storm, and process pipe. It's a steerable crawler with a Full HD pan-tilt camera head for pipes that require a smaller tractor. The portable reel and separate control tablet let you set up at the access point when the inspection vehicle cannot get close. Choose the Advanced set for laser measurement of pipe diameter and ovality. It is made in the EU for North America and sold and supported by FIBERSCOPE.

Built for crews that inspect without a CCTV truck

  • Configured to Your Pipe System
Every STORMER is built to order. Tell us your pipe sizes, materials and typical runs. We match the wheel kits, camera options, cable length, mounting, portable cart, or van to the work. Requests outside the standard sets are quoted with the factory.
    1
  • Runs on Batteries You Use
The reel uses two mass-market tool batteries of your choice, such as DeWalt or Milwaukee, via a battery adapter. Spare packs charge on the same rack as your other cordless tools. For van or truck installs, run the system from 110–240 V AC.
    2
  • Rolls to Manholes
The cable reel, crawler, and tablet travel as one wheeled unit with grab bars, and the tablet connects over Wi-Fi. Set up in backyard easements, ditches, parking structures, and plant floors, then load it back into a pickup.
    3
  • Up to 656 ft of Working Length
Standard sets come with 500 feet (Base) or 656 feet (Advanced) of non-coaxial cable; if your manhole spacing or culvert runs require more, we will quote the reel up to 984 feet.
    4
  • One platform from S to X
STORMER S and STORMER X share the reel, cable, tablet, software, and power system. Add the X crawler when your work moves into a bigger pipe, then add a lateral launch add-on when needed.
    5
  • WiFi Remote Troubleshooting
With your permission, a qualified technician can connect to the system's control electronics over the internet to run diagnostics and guide you through the necessary repair.
    6
  • See the whole pipe wall, then measure what you find
The Full HD camera head will pan and tilt, allowing the operator to look directly into the joints, service connections, and cracks rather than just assessing them from a forward view. The Advanced set includes a laser to measure pipe diameter and ovality directly on screen. The crawler steers, records its attitude, and stops itself from tipping in a deformed or offset pipe. A rear camera shows you the cable path as you back out.

    • Full HD pan & tilt camera, 5x digital zoom
    • Laser diameter and ovality measurement (Advanced set)
    • Steerable crawler with direction control
    • Inclination measurement
    • Automatic anti-tipping
    • Rear-view camera
  • Two tool batteries power the whole system
The battery adapter for the reel uses two batteries from a brand your team might already keep on hand, for example, DeWalt or Milwaukee; you thus avoid the need for proprietary batteries and the cost of replacing them, and charging is carried out on the rack you already have.
When using a dedicated truck or van, you should use the 110–240 V, 50/60 Hz electrical adapter. The reel can be connected to the tablet via Wi-Fi or LAN, and it also connects to an optional control unit for van installations.

    • Battery adapter for DeWalt, Milwaukee and other major brands
    • 110–240 V, 50/60 Hz AC adapter for van or truck installs
    • Wi-Fi, LAN or control-unit connection
    • Large wheels and grab bars for one-person moves
  • A reel that lays cable straight and holds the crawler on a grade
The cable is automatically straightened as it is wound, whether you're using the power or winding it by hand. With a one-way brake, you can adjust the resistance when moving forward and the cable runs without any resistance when going in reverse.
The distance sensor is used to record the footage for the report. There is an emergency stop positioned on the reel, and the remote control panel can be removed so that you are able to operate the reel from where you are standing.

    • Automatic cable straightening, motorized and manual
    • Adjustable one-way brake
    • Distance sensor for footage
    • Emergency stop
    • Removable rear control panel
    • Non-coaxial cable that resists breakage
  • Code, measure and report from the same tablet
Each STORMER pipe crawler comes with a lifetime license for its inspection software, which codes defects in accordance with EN 13508-2, plots the inclination along the length of the pipe, calculates the ovality, and can print either single or batch reports. Results can be exported to GIS in ISYBAU XML format, and a free viewer is available, allowing engineers and clients to open the reports without a license.

The rugged control tablet has physical joysticks and a sunlight-readable screen, and it connects to the reel via Wi-Fi or a cable. Another person can connect and watch the inspection live.
State in your quote request that your agency or contract requires NASSCO PACP coding, and we'll confirm the reporting workflow before you place an order.

Start with S. Add X or lateral launch when the work changes.

STORMER S and STORMER X run on the same reel, cable, tablet, software and power system. Only the crawler and camera differ. To handle larger mains, add the X crawler and camera to your existing reel. To inspect service laterals from the main, add the lateral launch module to the X crawler.
