Complete STORMER L lateral system: STORMER X crawler with lateral manipulator arm and camera, cable drum with yellow cable and tool batteries, and the push-cable positioning reel
Three inspection functions. One STORMER platform.

Mount the STORMER L arm on your STORMER X crawler, drive to the service connection, and push a Full HD pan-and-rotate camera up to 328 ft into the lateral. You work from the public manhole, so the lateral gets inspected without a cleanout or a visit to the homeowner. Take the arm off and your mainline crawler is back, with a motorized push camera on the side.

What is STORMER LAT?
STORMER LAT is a universal lateral launch camera system that fits the robotic manipulator and is synchronized with cable equipment to inspect service connections from the main sewer without access to private properties. The system allows inspection of 3”-12” laterals from 8″ to 48″ mains. The modular platform consists of the STORMER X pipe crawler, lateral launching add-on, and a 328 ft motorized push camera. All modules can be used separately. Choose the configuration for the work in front of you.

Set up. Position. Launch. Return.

Mount and connect
Fit the add-on to the compatible host configuration and complete the connection and pressure checks.
Position at the branch
Drive the crawler to the connection and align the camera using the manipulator.
Feed into the lateral
Use the synchronized cable positioning device to advance the tethered PT camera. Code the report.
Recover and reconfigure
Recover the camera and crawler. Remove the add-on when a regular mainline CCTV inspection is required.
The crawler stops under the service connection; the arm aims the camera head up into the lateral and the push cable feeds it in.

Inspect the lateral from the public side of the property line

  • Inspect laterals without entering private property
The camera enters the lateral from the main, so the inspection starts and ends at the public manhole. You skip access agreements, homeowner scheduling and the liability of working on private land.
    1
  • Works where there is no cleanout
Many older service connections were built without a cleanout. STORMER LAT reaches them from the sewer side, so the age of the house no longer determines whether a lateral gets inspected.
    2
  • Three tools from one purchase
With the arm on, STORMER X pipe crawler launches into laterals. With the arm off, it is a mainline CCTV crawler for 6″ to 80″ pipes. The positioning reel and camera also work on their own as a motorized pan-and-tilt Full HD push camera.
    3
  • Runs on tool batteries, on or off the truck
The positioning reel is battery-powered and takes the tool batteries your crew already stocks. It operates independently of the van, even on a vehicle-mounted system, so you can set up at manholes the truck can’t reach.
    4
  • Locate the lateral from the surface
The camera head is IP68-rated to 1 bar and pressurized by a built-in air pump with a moisture filter. A 512 Hz sonde is built into the camera head, so a standard locator marks the position and depth of a defect for spot repair or excavation.
    5
  • Made in the EU, supported in North America
STORMER LAT is built in the EU for the North American market. FIBERSCOPE, as an official North American dealer, handles quotes, warranty, parts, and service, and can set up a remote diagnostic test with the customer's permission.

  • An arm that turns the modular system into a lateral launcher
The STORMER LAT manipulator mounts on the front of the STORMER X crawler tractor. At the service connection, it raises the camera head, turns it toward the lateral opening, and holds it there while the push cable feeds the camera in.
When the lateral work is done, the arm comes off and the crawler takes its standard camera again for mainline inspection of 6″ to 80″ pipelines.

    • Mounts on the STORMER X crawler
    • Launches from mains 8″ to 48″ (DN200–1200)
    • Laterals from 3″ (DN70) straight, 4″ (DN100) through 90° bends
    • Removable for mainline CCTV inspection
  • Push cable and crawler move together, under one wireless control
The battery-powered positioning reel pushes the lateral camera on 328 ft (100 m) of 7.5 mm cable. It takes wireless commands from the control tablet and synchronizes its speed with the crawler and the main cable drum, so the cables pay out and retract together.
Because it carries its own batteries, the reel operates independently of the van. Take the reel and camera alone, and you have a motorized push camera with a pan-and-tilt camera head for 3″ to 16″ lines.

    • Wireless control from the rugged tablet or a van control unit
    • Speed synchronized with crawler and cable drum
    • 328 ft (100 m) of 7.5 mm push cable
    • Tool-battery powered: DeWalt, Milwaukee and other major brands
    • Works on its own as a motorized push camera
  • A 2.4″ Full HD pan-and-tilt camera head that looks back up the pipe
The lateral inspection camera is 2.4″ in diameter and fits pipes from 3″ to 16″ (DN70–400). It pans ±130° and rotates 360° continuously, for a field of view from +141° to −136°, so the operator can look back at a joint after passing it.
A 2 MP Full HD chip with 0.1 lux sensitivity, auto iris, and 1,280-lumen LED lighting gives a clear image in dark, wet lateral conditions.

    • Full HD 1920 × 1080
    • Pan ±130°, continuous 360° rotation
    • Remote motorized focus, 5x digital zoom
    • IP68 (1 bar), pressurized, with seal-monitoring sensors
  • The whole lateral system can roll out of a pickup bed.
The STORMER LAT modular system consists of the STORMER X pipe crawler, its cable drum, lateral launcher add-on, and positioning reel; all run on tool batteries and can be set up in minutes on the pavement next to the manhole. A crew can run lateral inspections from a pickup or trailer, and the same equipment can drop into a van install as the program grows.
STORMER LAT is built to order. If your network needs a different cable length or configuration, ask and we quote it with the factory.

    • Battery-powered, truly portable lateral launch
    • Fits a van install when you need one
    • Built to order; custom configurations on request
Find infiltration while the crawler is still in the pipe
STORMER X, part of the STORMER LAT Lateral Launch Camera module, can detect groundwater entering the pipe as it drives, and it records the readings during the inspection. The software charts inflow against distance, so your report shows which joints and segments take on water, with the video to back it up.
Pipe Crawler STORMER X with Groundwater Infiltration Sensor

One STORMER LAT, three ways to inspect

STORMER LAT features two working modes. Remove the arm for lateral launch from the STORMER X platform, and use the crawler for CCTV mainline inspection, or run the positioning reel and PT camera independently as a push camera.

Private-side inflow and infiltration
Find where ground- and stormwater enter through service laterals, without visiting each property.
Cross-bore inspection

Check service laterals for gas lines bored through them before a sewer cleaner finds one.
Lateral lining and reinstatement
Inspect laterals before CIPP lining and verify the result after, from the main.
Roots, breaks and blockages
Diagnose backups at a service connection when the homeowner has no cleanout.
Lateral condition inventory
Build a record of every connection on a street during the same mainline visit.
Spot repair planning

Locate a defect from the ground level with the sonde and dig once, in the right place.
