Fiberscopes or fiber optic borescopes have one thing in common - how it trasmit image from the tip to the eyepiece. Fiber optic image bundle is used to transmit image and this brings both advantages and disadvantages for the user. Advantage from the rigid scopes is that fiberscopes can be flexible and even more - tip articulated in any directions (usually 2 way and 4 way). Also it can be fairly long. At least 3 meters easily. At the same time disadvantage is that fiber  optic bundle doesnt have high resolution due to limitation of fiber optics qualities as well as fragility of the bundle. Fiberscopes can be easily broken by bending more then 90 degrees on an one close spot. or by hitting.

Adidional advantage of new fiber optic technology is ability to make fiber optic scopes with very small diameter - like up to 0.5mm or even upto 0.4mm.
